Whether it be for the handyman, the backyard mechanic or simply for the storage of those items that accumulate over the years, Clearspan will design and build a shed that suits all purposes.

Fortunately there are companies that specialise in sheds, garages and carports, and the better ones are always prepared to offer free advice and will give approximate building costs to help you decide what size best suits your requirements and budget.

The most economical sheds today are the "kit form" steel buildings which incorporate lightweight steel frames with metal cladding in a splendid range of colours which, when carefully selected, will blend in with existing building materials or the natural landscape colours of your garden.

Most companies will offer a choice of 13 standard colours to choose from. The colour process is applied over a rust-resisting coating of zinc, which has been electronically adhered to the steel surface. This means that the colour will last many years with very little maintenance.

To choose the best builder or supplier for your shed it is advisable to phone the Building Services Authority of Queensland to ensure you are dealing with a company that is a registered builder. Unfortunately too many people have been caught in the past with what they thought was a great bargain, only to find out too late that the company or person they dealt with had disappeared quicker than the problems had arisen.

By dealing with a company that is a registered builder you pay an insurance premium along with the building application and get solid protection against faulty work for a full six years after the building is completed. If you decide to take on the task of building the shed yourself, you should register as an owner builder, but make sure that your concretor and any other contractor used is registered and check that you are not responsible for tax collection or injuries sustained by them while on your site.
